Barista Boom

Barista Boom

Every drink by hand. Then the pips.

Made for a computer with a mouse, keyboard or controller. It won't fit a phone.

The shop you worked at ran on pips, right up until it blew. Start over with a borrowed espresso machine, a guide pip named Crema and your own two hands: pull every shot yourself, work shifts across town, and hire pips who each want something odd.

Plays in your browser on a desktop or laptop, with a mouse, keyboard or controller. The demo runs through the Beginners Brewers Cup, about an hour to an hour and a half. Your progress saves in the browser.

Every drink by hand

Click the lit thing, swipe the way it goes: the portafilter slams in, locks with a clunk, and the shot pours while you grab the milk. Keep three jobs going at once. The light always shows what comes next, so there is no recipe to learn, and assist does the gestures for anyone who wants it.

Then the pips

Pips are small, round and extremely employable, but none of them work for money. One wants a coupon. One wants a record. One wants a thing you found in town. Hire them anyway: they grind, steam, wash up and run the cups while you take the next order.

Shifts out in the world

Take your machines on the road: a school band's golden hour, a swarm of ducks, the lunch rush in the city. Every customer waits with their order in a bubble. Serve them fast and they tip. Nothing is lost: slow service just earns less.
